In July of 2004, Jahnke Road Baptist Church of Richmond, Virginia was partnered with the First Baptist Church of Sisseton, South Dakota through the North American Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. Three youth and one adult prepared and served several dinners at the church to earn money to cover our expenses for the trip. Our Mission was to conduct a Game and Re-Creation Camp as part of the outreach program of FBC Sisseton. The week prior to our arrival a team from Tennessee had performed VBS at several locations on the reservation. During our week these same children and their friends came to the church for a 2-hour camp. During the week we taught Bible stories on the theme God's Team, memorized Bible verses, played games that reflected teamwork and worshiped together. Out side of this daily routine we had the opportunity to worship at the regular meetings or the church and attend a youth outing at a local lake. The hospitality of the Sisseton Church was excellent. We had sleeping accomodations within the church and one of their members gave us tips on were we could go for necessities like ice cream. We found the countryside breath taking. This team has served together on many occasions and look forward to the great things the Lord has planned for the future.
